Hey guys,

So I am planning to apply this cycle and am a little concerned about my stats.

cGPA ~3.6 this semester I might get a ~3.5 so will probably go down 🙁
sGPA~3.5
DAT: taking it this summer
Started an Org on campus
Volunteer hours (500)
Local Church (270)~span of three years tho..
Hospital/Dental Clinic: 192
Random volunteer event ~38
Research for three years...(possible publication but late in the summer...so after I am done applying)
Shadowing: ~156 hours
Worked in the library (~1.5 years) and as illustrator for some art department on campus ( don't know if work experience matters...)

Was thinking to take my DAT in June but is it that too late?

My top choice is Marquette (OOS), Illinois (OOS), and Umich (IS).

Take the DAT in June or early July (if in July complete the application before you take the DAT). You should apply this year you will be competitive. I go to Marquette and got in with a 3.6 and 21AA. Make sure to to have everything completed by Mid August for Marquette at the latest

Your sGPA is mediocre. I think you can get away with it if you have a good DAT score. Your research looks great. You don't necessarily need to publish for it to be viable. The mere fact that you did it will attract some schools. Volunteer hours & Shadowing hours look great.

Bottom line is: Knock out the DAT, apply early and I think you will have a good shot at getting accepted to a few schools but make sure you apply to more than your top 3 schools

Good luck!🙂

OP, aim for a 22+ DAT and apply to 10-15 schools. You'll be fine! Also no, taking the DAT in June isn't too late! Just make sure you submit your AADSAS application by early to mid June so that it can get processed before you take the DAT.

Hey can anyone give me some advice. I am getting ready to submit applications. Got my DAT scores, P22/TS22/AA21 GPAS3.84. Heard OOS are really hard to get into and the costs are high, do they give out scholarships? Are any of them more OOS friendly and do I stand a chance with them. I have already graduated and am volunteering a dental office, and a free clinic . I am shadowing dentists, have been volunteering at the hospital for 7 years. I went to University of Florida so will apply there but am interested in other places. What do you think.

You'll be competitive at almost any school you apply to.
