Hello Everyone,
I am a first year student in the DO program and I was wondering as to what would be my chances of getting a general surgery residency in an MD program.
all replies will be appreciated.
thanks

there's general surgery spots open all the time, shouldn't be a big deal. but keep in mind many MD surgery programs are very traditional and resistant to DO candidates regardless of qualifications, so do your research before you apply when the time comes.

Thanks for your replies, and the heads up on the search. I was wondering if you are aware of a website or places which take in DO's for the allopathic general surgery residency,
please let me know
thanks

Seriously, virtually anywhere and everywhere. Go to the websites of programs that you would be interested in going to...and look at the current residents.
You will do fine.

Please consider Rehabilitation medicine as a career choice. I highly recomend it for all my DO friends. It is a perfect match. I am a MD PGY-4 in rehab and find the DO's ahead of MD's when it comes to musculoskeletal medicine and ofcourse manipulation tech. I highly recomend it to you,. Good luck in your choices.
