No one knows until you take your MCAT. Seems like you have great EC's..focus on the MCAT and score well.

no offense, but... since you are Native American you'll probably get pick of the litter of even MD schools if you just get a 30. 25 and above could probably get you in to an MD school also. You're part of a VERY under-represented minority

Yeppers. Do well on the MCAT to offset the lowish GPA, but you should be fine.

I'm a minority, but not an "underrepresented" one. Darn asians. 😉

So, you're one of those over represented people like me 😀

Please do not listen to these posts that encourage you to achieve mediocrity because you are an URM. Try to blow away the MCAT. There are no gaurantees to get into medical school just because you are a URM. You have some nice ECs, nice experiences, but your GPA is definitely on the low side.

:luck:

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men, have mediocrity thrust upon them." -Joseph Heller

While I dont' encourage doing mediocre on the MCATs, I do believe being an URM will give you an extra 'boost' in the process.

Go to http://www.aamc.org/data/facts/2005/mcatgparaceeth.htm

This is the official breakdown of applicants and matriculants by race and see where your numbers lay. DO schools would probably require lower MCAT scores so shave off 2-5 points and you got your range.

As a native american, you will have a slight advantage juding by the numbers, but you still need to do relatively well on the MCATs in order to get in with your lower GPA. Good luck. :luck:

If you are interested in rural medicine/practicing in a Native American community, the University of North Dakota School of Medicine has a program, known as INMED, for Native American Medical School Applicants. The link for information and the application is listed below. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about UND, the area, or the medical school itself.
