Does anyone know the chances for applicants that take the January MCAT? I'm averaging mid 20s on practice test. Primaries are in and Im working on secondaries. What do you think?

My honest answer is that your chances are not that great.

Many classes are filling up very quickly, so you have very little time to get in for an interview.

I did a quick look at the MCAT test calendar, and it looks like scores for a January test aren't going to be released until around March. This is cutting it VERY close for consideration this year.

If you're really committed to applying this year, go for it. But I think you should consider slowing down, studying for an extra month (until your practice scores are >30) and applying next year.

Sorry I couldn't be more optimistic 🙁 but good luck!

I'm sorry are you asking what the average MCAT score is in January, as in which month is the MCAT the easiest to take?

Oh... I hadn't considered the OP's question this way. I thought s/he meant "What are the chances for admission in this year's cycle if I take the MCAT in January?"

No just wondering if anyone who has taken a Jan MCAT with mid 20 scores has been successful in getting in.

uh well that's an unusual question. I don't think people have really considered that...probably because a 20 MCAT in January is just a 20 MCAT regardless of month. Maybe your question should be what are the odds of someone having a so and so GPA with a 20 something MCAT.

ALSO i'm really confused what do you mean your primaries are in and you're working on secondaries? That's only for people who've already applied. And people fill out their primaries in June and receive secondaries starting as early June/July.

I think your chances for the 2010 application year for 2011 matriculation would depend on the overall strength of the rest of your application, like cGPA, sGPA, and ECs, as well as the trend of your most recent grades. Very-late application through AACOMAS with a January MCAT may result in an acceptance, but chances are far, far lower than if the application had been complete earlier in the cycle.

You kind of got me confused with your question. Not sure I understand what you want to know here really. If I understood correctly what you meant, then I'd have to say that I agree with bravofleet4, 20MCAT in JAnuary is as 20 in any other month.

I'll rephrase....
I wanted to know what people thought were the chances of someone who is applying very late in the application process (now) who is retaking the MCAT. Initial score was 24 and pretty much averaging around the same for retake on practice tests.
Does anyone know medical students with a similar MCAT score; GPA 3.3, grad degree GPA 3.7 who has been successful in gaining admission this late in the game?
Thanks,
Bob

This late, I don't think your new MCAT scores are going to come out in time to significantly help your application.

Why risk getting a lower score on the MCAT if you're averaging your previous score on practice tests? It doesn't make sense. Take a few extra months to bring your mcat up and apply in June. It's very late in the cycle.
