Hi everyone! I just finished my first semester of Sophomore year and took way too many credits & Pre-Med/Dent requirements at the same time. I want to be an oral surgeon, and I have not decided whether I want to go to medical school or dental school, so I am just applying to them both next year! I don’t think my GPA is great at all, but what do you think my chances are, and how do you think I can improve? I constantly obsess over medical school I want to get in more than anything!

General Chemistry I/ Lab: A
General Chemistry II/ Lab: B+
Organic Chemistry I/ Lab: B
General Biology I/ Lab: B
Calculus: A-

First Semester Freshman: 3.418
Second Semester Freshman: 3.667
First Semester Sophomore: 3.374

I still need the 2nd half of Organic and Biology and I am taking Physics over the summer. I had a rough semester because I transferred schools, but I am committed to getting a 4.0 next semester. I haven’t taken the DAT yet, I plan to take it sometime next year in my Junior year. As of now, how do my chances look? Good or bad?

Don't do that. They ask you on the dental school and medical school application if you've applied to any other professional programs. It looks really bad if you applied to both. You should decide now what you want to be. If you want to be an oral surgeon for sure, then go dental. If you want to do any other surgery, go med.

Not to mention you have to DAT and MCAT. Apply to so many schools, cost so much money. double the money, double the stress. Volunteer, shadowing...

You should volunteer at a hospital and a dental clinic, see which one you like. Talk to doctors, dentists. Once you decide where to go, your life will be much easier....
