I am almost done with my residency in family practice, about a year left to go, and was wondering if you know about anyone doing an OB/GYN residency after they have completed one in another specialty? I would appreciate any input you could give me.

Yes, I know personally of an OBG intern who had already completed an FP residency and had been in practice for several years. Personally, I can't see doing it. It can be done, although it's a long road. I suppose if you feel a burning drive to do OBG, then you ought to listen to your desires if it's feasible.

Best wishes.

There is an internal medicine graduate last year who is now an intern in ob/gyn at my home institution. She actually somehow went outside the match (took 3 as usual from the match) and is now the 4th intern.

my home program also has a resident who completed his family practice residency and is now a second year ob/gyn. so it can be done! good luck 🙂
