Hey guys! Happy to announce I'll be attending medical school this fall.
I know, I know..I have no plans on studying before entering school, but what are some things I should square away before my first day of class that may be overlooked?
Like, changing your license card before going to a new state (some states require it), saving money for the deposit for your apartment, making sure you have proper clothes for the new weather at your school, buying yourself a back up pair of glasses, creating a recipe book so I don't starve, e.t.c I plan on moving to a different state and I won't be with my family. Any ideas on things I should prepare for?

One thing I'm going through right now is immunizations - find the AAMC standard immunization form and consider making an appointment for a physical that includes testing for immunity (and getting boosters needed).

Ooh man, thats smart. I need to get on that

Get to know people in your incoming class and the class above yours via social media. My class had a FB page that was created by one of the incoming students. If you need a roommate, it’ll be easier if you do this, and it’ll allow you to start to familiarize yourself with the people who will be an important part of your life for the next few years. As for the class above yours, they can often give good advice on best places to find apartments and idiosyncrasies about your school that are good to know ahead of time.

Are you bringing an automobile with you?

If yes ...

1. Do you have something like AAA/Auto Club if your automobile breaks down (e.g., roadside auto emergencies, flat tires, dead batteries, towing, etc.)?
2. Is your automobile in compliance with the regulations of your new town (or your new county or new State) - such as mandatory smog checks and smog certificate fees?
3. Do you need to "register" your automobile anywhere?
4. Do you need to purchase an automobile parking permit?
5. Do you need to do anything different in connection with your automobile insurance coverage?

My automobile is on its last leg so I will have to sell it and lease a new one 🙂!
