Wow...lucky. The condition described is known as commotio cordis, and the arrhythmia is usually v-fib. Normally, defibrillation is required to restore normal sinus rhythm. The fact that he came back with CPR alone is pretty miraculous. Still, good save!
 
I actually had a commotio cordis question on step 2 last month. they described the condition- baseball to chest- and asked what arrhythmia.
