Check your aplications. Three of my experiences vanished from the application today. I called AMCAS and they are looking into it. They had the correct info on their computer screen though. Also each one of my deleted experiences were "paid employment- non military".

The same thing happened to me. I lost two experiences, both of which were paid employment, non-military,

AAAH! Me too. Except I lost about 4 experiences, and yes, they were all paid employment, non-military. 😡

I'm really upset about this, because now I can't send hard copies out till they fix the problem. This is such BS, how can we be assured that our applications are going to look ok to the medical schools?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I just checked mine and ALL of the seven health related jobs I listed ARE GONE. What the phuck is going on with AMCAS?....I submitted my app on 6/25 and all I've witnessed are mistakes. No process date, no cert button change, no course verifictaions, nothing. I'm thinking of calling my credit card company and then withdrawing my app and concentrating on my state (Texas) schools since they don't have anything to do with AMCAS.

This is absolutly ridiculous, I cannot believe they have ommited four of my most thorough experiences. This is something that better be rectified, and fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone that gets information on this post soon, everyone should check thier application NOW....

hehe it seems to me that maybe amcas is angry because the med schools are initiating round about ways of applying. Theyre retaliating by erasing post secs from our applications in an attempt to keep us from printing them out ourselves and mailing them in. And little by little our applications vanish until *poof*, eventually nothing is left. 🙂

I lost 4 experiences as well.

what the hell is going on?

The sad thing is, I just checked, and the experiences are missing from the printout, as well as the actual application. 🙁

I lost my paid non military employments as well.. now how am i suppose to send it off to med schools?!??! Is there a way we can get back at AMCAS for the ridiculous job that they have done? 😡

Oh great. Me too. This totally SUCKS! 😡 Now how the hell are we supposed to send off our applications even via snail mail? AAAHHH!

No surprise... mine are missing too. Ironically, I'm typing this message from my health-related job...

well I guess this saves me a phone call too. I lost all my paid employment as well. I tried to re enter it, but paid employment is not on the drop down list. You just gotta luv this... 🙂

Yup, mine's gone too. Nice. Sounds like the issue will be taken care of though if this has happened to everyone. AMCAS sucks!

I guess I haven't worked at a hospital after all.

AMCAS!, does the fun ever start?

mine are gone from the application and from the printout as well

also check on your printouts to see if you have the following problem in your MCAT section it might have been addressed before

Does you number of MCAT's taken look like this now
Number of MCATs Taken Since April 1991:0

Apparently I didn't take the MCAT (then what the hell was that 8 hour hell I suffered through one Sat.)

All my paid-non military experiences are also gone, both in the application and the printout! I am emailing AMCAS AND calling them first thing Monday. Do they work tomorrow, Saturday? Or Sunday?

Could this process be any more ridiculous?! This is completely bunk. My experiences are gone as well. Can you say, "Law suit?" I bet you that's what's eventually going to happen.

Oh yeah!! Mine are gone, too!

Wow - same here...3 of mine got chopped off.

i lost some post-secondary experiences too. i'm wondering if there's a limit to the number of experiences one can list. i have 12 now but recall listing around 15. hoping maybe 12's the number in the software or something. i don't know, just throwing an idea out.

I thought about that too, but if there was a software-imposed limit it would have taken effect immediately, not some 2 months after I entered it in the first time.

Luckily I saved a version of my AMCAS printout that contains all the info before the extracurrics started disappearing, so I can use that for now if I have to.

The worst thing about this glitch is that we will probalby all have to re-enter the data and completely resubmit our app. The data that was pulled from our apps is probably lost forever until we re-enter it.

I hope AMCAS doesnt transmit/send my app without those experiences listed on it. If they do, the med schools will wonder why the printed version I sent to them does not match up with the app that AMCAS sent to them.

i'm thinking post-process dude.

I doubt that we will have to re-enter. Remember the missing schools case? With all the AMCAS troubles, this is rather expected... I think AMCAS will lose my name next... afterwards, I will only respond to the call of "11151879".

Hell, I lost my mind already! Now, I do need that for medical school right guys? Or do I? 😀 😕

I guess I am lucky enough to join everyone else here who is missing post-sec. experiences. I have my print out from a month ago and it's all there and now it's gone. I think everyone should demand a refund. I mean tons of schools are now sending secondaries to everyone because of the AMCAS problem. I didn't pay hundreds of dollars to AMCAS so they could just forward my email address to the schools I applied to.

Not to mention all the time, effort, and money spent just to print and mail the AMCAS application to quite a number of schools. AMCAS is not doing anywhere close to what I've paid them to do.

Hmmm... i'm not sure if those experiences will magically reappear on their own or not.

I sure hope so, but I'm thinking that this situation might be different than the disappearing med schools issue.

I agree with the posters above about AMCAS too. Its unbelievable that there are STILL BUGS in the app. Its completely unexcusable, and I do know about computer software and getting a web app to work is not THAT HARD to do, it just takes some foresight, which AMCAS lacks.

But you know, the real problem with this situation is the absolute refusal of the med schools to drop AMCAS for just this year. I know of NO med schools that are willing to completely bypass AMCAS all the way thru the admission stage, and that puts the applicants in an un-negotiable situation.

If the med schools would just say 'OK lets drop AMCAS for this year only while they work out the bugs' then I would be happy. But they arent doing that, they are continuing to say 'applicants can only bypass AMCAS TEMPORARILY.'

By insisting that applicants still utilize AMCAS to some degree, the med schools are essentially denying the applicants any real hope of getting a refund without a huge fight with AMCAS.

What we really need to do is quit arguing with AMCAS and get the med schools to completely drop AMCAS for one year. Then we could all get our money back.

Let me add to my post above that med schools are VERY UNLIKELY to drop AMCAS for hte full process this year.

So basically, we are pretty much screwed out of any chance to get any kind of refund unless your credit card company is willing to fight for you and remove a credit card charge that was made almost one year after it was originally posted.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

OAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I LOST MY POST SECONDARY EXPERIENCES TOOOOOOOOOOOO

I WANNA CRY....WHEN WILL THIS PROCESS END...IT JUST GETS WORSE AND WORSE...: 🙁 😡 😳 😱 🙁

Mine are gone too -- paid, non-military experiences, that is. Can it get any worse?

me too people. my paid non milt are gone too.
Has anyone called amcas about this yet? if so, what up? please let us know. thanx

I just emailed them at 12:53 in the am! They better answer my email! I am going to call them on Monday anyhow and see what is going on. Also, I noticed something rather weird...

If you logon and click "print your application" right away, it will not show to which school AMCAS has forward your application to. However, if you click to see your designated medical schools list first, and then click the print your application button, you will see that there are dates for transmission. This is peculiar!

MacGyver, I'm not sure if you applied to Yale but they want our printed transcripts AND copies of our college transcripts. I don't think they are waiting around to see if AMCAS gets their act together.

Yesterday, a number of schools told me to send a copy of my AMCAS App. just to be safe. Now how the heck am I supposed to do it now with some of my best experience missing? I was also told by a number of schools that AMCAS had contacted them, and that they were REALLY going to send hard copies starting next monday. I think Michigan, Yale, and Penn informed me of this. I am also wondering if these hard copies that are being sent contain the Paid- Non-Military employment or not. This application process is really going too far, and it is getting pretty ridiculous since we now have our hands tied and cannot even send in a hard copy. Also, if any of you already sent out hard copies there is a good chance the experiences were missing then too, but you were simply not looking for it.

I have the same problem...
I had to add a paid - non military experience...but resorted to adding into the category of "other"... 😡 😡

Everyone,

Take a deep breath.....

INHALE,EXHALE.

Remember the mess about transmittal dates; all mine are once again gone. They'll take care of this too. Why worry about AMCAS; go out and enjoy yourselves (well those of you not taking the August MCAT 😉 ). Yes, AMCAS is screwed this year, but they have managed to get a lot of problems fixed, right?? (I hope you guys are nodding your heads in agreement.) Basically, I'm trying to say "Don't panic. There's more to life."

🙂

Same here, just paid-non military experiences are missing. So used ot this that I am not worried.

Yup, my work experiences are gone too. Phuck you very much AMCAS, I really appreciate it.

This is why I sent hard copies to all my schools. I didn't want to just assume that my application would get to the schools all in one piece. We really have no way of knowing if AMCAS sends everything correctly.

I would suggest to all who don't have a full correct printed copy, to check regularly to see if the appl is fixed and as soon as it is, PRINT IT.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen! Very good advice, Amy Beth.

i'm finishing up my amcas right now...there isn't even a distinction for paid-nonmilitary, only paid-military.

I am going for an interview on Tuesday and the school called me on Friday (8/10) to tell me to bring them a copy of my application because mine hadn't been transmitted to them yet. I wanted to make sure that the copy I had (from 6/21) was still indeed what was going to be transmitted and I also found out that my paid employment secondaries were gone! I clicked on add and re-entered them. I didn't have any problem doing so, I printed it out and have my application ready to go. I just checked again and, surprisingly, they were still there!! Again, I did this on Friday so it might not work like this now, but you might want to try re-entering them in and see what happens.

ain't this great....i go to print out a copy of my amcas this morning, and i notice that 9 of my 20 post secondary exp. are missing, all of them Paid, not military.....I LOVE AMCAS!!!!!

i also tried to call this morning, and got a busy signal for over 10 minutes.....i guess they took the phones off the hook too!!

I have 5 paid employments missing also. I called AMCAS on friday and she read the correct application to me on HER computer screen. They were not missing at AMCAS. However, they are still missing on mine. I think it is obviously just an error that will be fixed like the MCAT scores, transmittal dates etc.......

I hate this.

later

I was finally going to submit my AMCAS app today, but as I was checking everything over, I noticed that a couple of my post-sec experiences also got deleted. What should I do? They were there last time I was working on the app. Some people have said that AMCAS has them listed but we cannot see them. I wanted to read over everything one more time. Should I wait until the problem has been corrected or submit it? The two experiences are very important.

I am not able to save any changes on the post-sec exp section. An error messages comes up everytime I try. Is anyone else facing the same prob? I don't want to delay it anymore. I really want to submit my app asap.

I tried to call amcas about this. I was on hold for an hour this moring. I gave up. The MCAT is Saturday! I can't be bothered anymore. Mariah Carey irritates me too much.
