Hey guys, I am just wondering if I should keep my general chem book/solutions manual to reference from when I study for the DAT next summer? The book is very new (Chemistry: Julia Burdge 2nd edition), but I was curious if there is a better one or a cliff notes type book I should buy instead? If I don't need it and there is something better to reference from, I would love some suggestions. Thank you

Please change your "Pre-Med" status first then will answer your question.

Good practice but I wouldn't start there. I think you will spend way too much time learning everything in the textbook when only a few particular things will show up on the test. I would probably subscribe to Chad's chem videos and if you want to use the textbook, pick problems that relate to those topics to practice.

Why not just use the reference material discussed on this forum? I don't think the textbook is necessary, unless you want to keep it as a reference for any problem type you really have trouble with. (Although if you are taking the MCAT....)

Well to those who mentioned my status, thanks for nothing considering I made this profile back in 2009 when I first started taking classes (non-traditional). And my question wasn't asking if I should use just the textbook, but if the textbook would be good enough TO reference questions/concepts that may stump me in some of the actual DAT materials. Thanks to those who gave useful info, I think I will keep it just to be sure.
