I am a chemical engineering student entering my junior year, but I'm becoming very interested in becoming a pharmacist later in my career.

1) My question is, will the knowledge from my ChemE degree help in my PharmD education?

Or

2) Would a BioE degree be better, since there is just as much chemistry, but more biology involved.

Any advice would help me. Thanks.

Chemistry in a Pharm program is geared mostly towards Biochemistry Organic chemistry Medicinal Chemistry. While you do have a very good chem background Gen. Chem might be the only course that could be credited towards your PharmD and the rest you would have to start over fresh. ( then again I could be wrong) Btw, ChemE is a great carrer choice, my dad is a has a Bachelors in ChemE and is very happy...why do you want to pursue pharmacy? just curious

So I guess to answer your question a BioE degree may help but since you have a great chem background and assuming you're doing well in your chemE program you should have no problems in your future PharmD program hope that answers your question

OKay, thanks for the insight. I'm pursuing pharmacy to keep my options open later in life.

My mistake. Excuse me and thank you!
