Hello,

I am hoping you guys can give me some advice. I'm 26, currently attending a community college, and plan to transfer to a 4 year next Fall. My school starts their General Chemistry sequence in the Fall of each year. I was unable to take it this Fall, so I would have to wait a whole year to do it again, at the 4 year university.

The 4 year I want to go to, as well as my CC, recognizes the CLEP Chemistry exam. I'm fairly certain I could pass it, as I have had other chemistry courses, just not the one year of general chemistry. Would medical schools accept this, especially if I went on and did organic and bio and received excellent grades?

I would prefer to do it at my CC because it is much cheaper, and do the more advanced chemistry at the 4 year. I'm more interested in DO schools than MD, if that makes a difference...

Any advice is appreciated!

I spoke with the admissions counselor at the medical school in my home town. They do accept CLEPs however you need to find out how the chemistry department grades them and what grades you will recieve for what scores on the CLEP. Also, you have to take the labs, even if the exam is worth 8 hours you still need to take the lab or you did it for nothing.
