I took chem1 and chem2 in the summer of 2009 as part of my major and received As in both courses. I am contemplating going to med school and would need to finish the rest of the prereqs. However, I don't think I remember a thing from chemistry.

Before taking organic chem and the MCAT, do you think it would be worth it to audit some chem courses or is it better to look at some review books to try and re-learn the material that way? I really don't want to have to retake a whole course. Has anyone else had a similar dilemma with chemistry or another subject? What course of action did you end up taking? Thanks.

i took organic chemistry a few years after I took Gen chem 2, frankly I found organic chemistry easier then gen chem, there wasn't really much math mainly stereochemistry, naming, some reactions etc if you want a good primer on what you'll probably cover go look at khanacademy, that helped me alot to get ready

oh yeah there really wasn't too much in gen chem that overlapped orgo, besides maybe hybridization, acids and bases and pH etc you should be fine if you got A's in both of them

You don't need to retake, just review hybrid orbital bonding theory and geometry, and acid base chemistry. That's all you use in O-chem from Gen. chem, then you build the rest on that.

Now for the MCAt, because it's been 10 years since I've taken Gen. Chem, I've spent the last 2 weeks going through the entire text book and relearning everything.
