Here is the nightmare called my reality. At the beginning of our semester I'm learning from a great chem professor, very popular among students and does a great job of explaining everything. We find out he needs an emergency surgery...the very unfortunate happens, and he passes. We get a new professor, but are forced to deal with the greef of losing someone we respect. We grow to enjoy the new profs teaching style, but turns out she gives much more difficult exams than she let on...average in the mid 50's, I even saw some students score in the teens...But, we find out she is 7 mos preggers and cant finish the semester...so we get professor 3. I'm hoping he's going to be great...nope. This guy makes Ben Stein sound like Will Farell. Comes to class unprepared and has no idea what were doing in class.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I'm hoping I'll still get a decent grade...but nothings promised. Today he said "I have a tendency to give too difficult and too long of a test, students dont typically have time to finish them." - Awesome - I just needed a place to vent.

Dental schools will NOT have mercy on you. You get what you get, and assume responsibility. That's the mature way to go about it, and the best answer to approach the situation. Trust me, I have grades that I felt were unwarranted, but I took responsibility and made up some story about how it made me into a better person.

That being said, here is the best piece of advice I can give you: (as I have been in that position).

If you are doing well, keep up with the class. If you are doing bad, I would drop and take a W. Sometimes, it maybe to late to take a W; however, you can petition to get a W through the school. You actually have a LEGIT petition (not because you were late or irresponsible), because you had three different teachers with three different teaching styles. Plus, emotionally you feel drained from the first teacher's passing.

A W is much better then a F,D, or C. I think if you have a B...it's not worth to drop it (depending on your GPA). Either way...good luck.:xf:

Wow I thought what I experienced in my chem 101 was crazy but you SIR have experienced much CRAZIER things. When I signed up for my first general chemistry class I picked out a professor that has a decent rating. On the first day of the semester, the school had changed it and we got a new professor. He turned out to be an annoying dude and often make students feel dumb BUT he gave us a 16 point curve on our first test because he was late to class:laugh:. However, after the first test, we started to have some very tough quizzes and his attitude had become much more worse. A group of 6 people(there are about 20 in my class) came to talk to the head of the chem department. He decided to come and watch this new teacher teach and this made the new teacher really mad. The week after that he quit:laugh:. After that we got our original professor back(the one with good rating). He turned out to be amazing!(this semester is my fourth time taking chemistry with him, orgo II).

Just try to do your best in your class.

You went from a good scenario to okay to bad. I would drop and retake if possible.

Although, there were some professors I wished.. :meanie:

However, if everyone is doing poorly... mid 50's on test, (wtf it's just gen chem, they need to learn how to make a damn test and teach!) there is a good posibility that the class will be given a curve before the semester is over. No teach will Fail an entire class..fail a few students that probably deserve it- you bet- but not an entire class.

Just hope if that happens it isnt one of those stupid a** Bell curves!
