Which of the following solutes will decrease the pH of distilled water?

KOH
NaCl
SO2
Ba(NO3)2
LiCN

The answer states it is BaNO3/2, confused why it's not SO2.

Where is this question from? Pretty sure it should be SO2 since non metal oxides are acidic and Ba(NO3)2 is a neutral salt

Sulfur dioxide is fairly soluble in water, reacting to give a solution of sulfurous acid , and would indeed DECREASE the pH of a solution.

Barium Nitrate solutions will essentially give a pH of 7 because it is produced from Barium hydroxide, and Nitric acid, a strong base and a strong acid respectively.
