Can anybody give me a rundown/scoop on Chicago anesthesia programs? I tried doing some research via scutwork.com but most of the reviews are from 5-10 years ago. Thanks.

That's kinda vague, I'm at the DO school in Chicago so I know a bit about some of the programs but don't even know what info would be applicable to you, if any...

There are different types of programs: university, county, community.

Depends on what you're looking for.

Researched programs before applying and NW and UC seemed to be the standouts for me. Interviewed at both and each had a little different feel. Obviously, you would get great clinical training at both. However, I felt like NW had more of a clinical emphasis whereas UC had an academic vibe. I think NW was stronger in pediatrics, OB, and pain, whereas UC stronger in ICU and cardiac. Enjoyed both residents equally and neither really seemed hagard. NW is definitely in the better part of Chicago. UC just built a brand new hospital, but hadn't moved in yet as of my interview (probably done by now). Would've been happy at either program.
