chlorophylls absorb light and are part of tow photosystems I, II.

chlorophyll a or P700 is for photosystem I,
special chlorophyll a or P680 is for photosystem II (correct me if i'm wrong)

but I'm wondering what chlorophyll b are for?

and do i have to know this for DAT? what do you guys think?

Chlorophyll B absorbs light at a different wavelength.

Any additional knowledge that you can retain can only help you for the DAT.

chlorophyll b is for PSII? looking at the diagram on kaplan's book

just know that there are much more chlorophyll a than b, and they only differ by one side chain. they both act together to get the most out of light energy and i think chlorophyll b absorbs blue light? and reflects green

from 6th ed. cambell bio book, p700,p680 are actually identical chlorphylla molecules...

but kbb p652 diagram says chlorophylll a in psI and chlorophyll b in psII...

which one is right?

Campbells is right. Chlorophyll b and carotenoids just help out while chlorophyll a does the main job in both systems

P680 (PSII) nnd P700 (PSI) are both chrolophyll A

i remember there was a question in dat achiever asking about which pigments participates in photosynthesis i think? the answer was only chlorophyll A because it participates directly, while chlorophyll B and carotenoids are accessory pigments that replace the electrons of chlorophyll A. i'll try to find the question and post the which one it was to be sure.
