I'm currently a high school student and I need to decide what I want to do after high school. I think going to a 6 year program right out of high school will be much easier and less stressful. However, money is a problem. I could go to a state school (oregon state) and save money but I have to work hard to get into their pharmacy school. OR try to get into a 6 yr program(UOP preferably) and struggle with finacial issues.

I'm not sure which would be a smarter decision.

Thats why they have loans and grants and scholarships, if you're smart enough. High school student should do more research on his own. Just don't screw up because you're playing with big money now.

I agree with the above poster. As a student who attends a private school I know how important the cost of your education can be when making your decision. As a high school student I'm sure you'd like to keep the cost of your education as low as possible. However, I wouldn't gamble with your education in regards to cost, this is quite possibly one of the most important decisions you will make, and as the above poster mentioned, there are scholarships, grants and loans available.

I would recommend applying to all of the schools you are interested in regardless of cost, fill out the FAFSA and wait and see what types of financial aid the school will offer you. You might be surprised with the results-perhaps the more expensive school will offer you more financial aid and thus be less expensive.

As a high school senior who is going to attend pharmacy school in the fall, I can identify with you. I got accepted into my top school, Ohio Northern, and it is an amazing program and 0-6 so I won't have to worry about the PCAT or reapplying. The problem is it is 40,000 a year; however, my love and drive of this school is far more important than the cost. Just go with what university that you really want to attend, and the rest will pay for itself.

Oregon State actually has a guaranteed admissions policy if you check the website.

Also, its funny how you mention Uni. of Pacific when they give out A TON of aid. Average kid gets at least 20,000. Do some research.

I'm a high school senior, too. I am going the six year route.

Yeah I've heard oregon state has EAP. Thankfully I'm still a junior but I still want to be sure. My dream is to go to oregon state and be in their EAP. But I'm going to have to work my butt off so I'll be a competative applicant. I've heard only 10 student get accepted to that program.
