Hi everyone,
I need your advice for making my final decision.

Which dental school should I choose for 4 years of studying.

Columbia, Pittsburgh, Detroit mercy, Loma linda, Indiana?

which is cheapest? which did you like the best? do you want to specialize?

columbia has a high specializing rate, UDM has excellent facilities etc.

pick which one suits you

I think only you can answer that question. Think about interview day and what impressed you most and what impressed you the least. Also imagine yourself at each of the school and how you feel about it. Do you see yourself as one of the students, working along side their faculties? If you rank each school the same, you can look at location, price, facilities, and weather. But there must be something that one school had that stood out for you vs the others. Do you like their teaching style/curriculum? I think a lot of schools have strong points and I believe you, and anyone would be happy with any choice, so that's why this is so hard for many people. I'd reread the interview feedback about what people liked and disliked about the school and if you, after visiting them, agree with what people said. Also search threads about the school, and again compare it with your own experience. I can imagine this being a tough choice because each school is good, but remember any of the schools you choose will the right choice because every dental school will give you a great education.

This decision really has to be your own, but it's helpful to look at reasons why other's picked the schools that they did. Personally Loma Linda was my top choice, but I never got in off the waitlist, and although I was accepted to Columbia, I went with Pitt in the end, and I don't really regret it. If you're wanting to see my thoughts, search for a thread by me called something like "Columbia vs. Pitt." If your situation was the same as mine, you've got about a week and a half to make one of the hardest decisions of your life - take my advice, and go with your gut.

If you have any questions about Pitt, feel free to call Dr. Etzel, the dean of student services. He's always happy to talk to students, so share with him your situation and thoughts, and he'll be a very straight shooter. I know talking to him really helped me make my decision.

Again, remember that anyone else's reasons for picking one school over another are solely their own, and the most important thing that counts is what you think. And like Boxer said, think back to interview day, you're walking around, taking the tour - which school really had you thinking "Wow, this is where I want to go." For me, that school was Pitt, for you, it could be another. Good luck, and remember, either way you choose, you've still made a good choice.

👍 Vic...once again...stellar advice. These guys (and gals) should all owe you a cold one.
