For those of you who have jobs that don't include the more demanding cases such as traumas, neuro, cardiac- do you miss doing these cases? Also are you worried about losing your skills from residency? I'm trying to decide between different job prospects right now and part of me wants to keep up my skills and gain more experience in trauma, and another part of me says that I think I'd be just as happy at a low stress, trauma free, lifestyle oriented job, especially if I may stay there long term. I just wanted to hear others thoughts on choosing a job based on types of cases. thanks.

go where the surgeons are good fast efficient and dont post cases at 11 pm.
dont go where surgeons are slow, slothful obnoxious and have no respect for efficiency and regularly post cases after hours. you want to have a job that you can maintain a good pace for a long time and if you are getting out of bed every fourth night to do some case that could be easily done during reg hours.. guess what? not sustainable..
