Hey guys I'm taking the mcats next month and wanted to submit my application by next week just to get a little ahead of the curve. I'm really dreading them since I haven't been doing so hot on the practice tests =( . Impulsively, I bought MSAR online edition and wasn't too fond of it. I don't like how they set up their 10th percentile and 90th percentile mcat scores and leave you guessing what the average is. Yes, they tell you the median score of the mcat for each score but that isn't the mean (average). So, I was wondering if there are any better sources out there that can tell me the average mcat and gpa of each medical school as well tuition, in-state and out-state acceptances? My goal is to, of course, apply to a lot of high and low tier schools but just in case I can't pull it off on the real thing I want to give myself every chance of being accepted...Thanks everyone I really appreciate your help!! =)

I am just guessing here but I believe they report the median instead of the mean because it is a better representation of the dataset. Uncharacteristically high- or low-scoring matriculants would throw off the average. Even so, I would be surprised if the average was much more than half a point +/- the median.

US News has some of the information that you're looking for. MSAR has tuition... US News has acceptance #'s for IS and OOS

Median is better than mean for these stats. I can't remember what US News reports (mean vs median) but MSAR has the right idea by using it

On a related note...it would be nice if people actually did the school reviews! You get cool inside info about the school rather than the somewhat stale stuff that's just in MSAR and USNews.

US News has similar stats to the MSAR (however, one nice thing is the actual number of acceptances, not just matriculants). Also, the schools' actual websites.

There are a couple of other books out there but they don't compare to the above.

Thanks everyone these are great sources. The excel spreadsheet is really good on this forum: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=831618 is great!! I checked out US News not sure if I want to buy it thought because I feel like MSAR gives most of the info except for the average mcat score but US News is definitely in a better format.
