Hello SDNers,

I am a dental school re-applicant and I am preparing my list of schools to apply to in June. Although I will be applying so some of the same schools throughout my first process I was able to find out what I really want in a dental school. If you have any suggestions for schools that match what I am looking for it would be greatly appreciated!

Qualities I am looking for in a dental school:
a. clinically heavy
b. community focused
c. public health in the curriculum (or joint PH program available)
d. low student to faculty ratio

ASDOH!! I loved ASDOH. Clinically heavy (check, even though you start after D1, but D2-4 don't have any basic sciences, and you take NBDE part 1 after your first year). Community focused (check! they have their program where you go to different sites all around the country to work in community clinics, as a part of your requirements). Public health in curriculum (check! required to take 7 PH classes to get this PH certificate, and if you take 7 more classes you can get an MPH). Low student to faculty ratio (I'm pretty sure they have this, but I forgot the exact numbers)

def Marquette. fits all those criteria to a tee (although they're accepting 20 more students starting now due to expansion of the building....but still thats only a class of 100, not super huge, don't think faculty ratio will be a problem). but the community & public health aspects are very numerous, and they are very clinically-heavy, even your first year!
