Well, I've reached wits end with this ****. If I hear one more person call chromatin one thing (ie. granular) then another person call the exact same chromatin something else (coarse) I'm gonna put a bullet in my head. The only thing apparently consistent between observers is neuroendocrine (salt and pepper). Anyone know of a good site or book to straighten this mess out for me?
Thx.

Listen to me, chromatin is either fine as in lymphoblastic lymphoma, clumped as in CLL or unremarkable. Thats it.

There is no book, you just need to look at an assload of slides.

Don't forget clock face chromatin. Yeah, that's a good one.

You realize half the **** pathologists say about stuff is merely a thinly veiled method of confusing you NOOBS🙂 have fun.

And dont forget the such gems as: cabot rings, "tigeroid" stroma and psedo-Pelger Huet morphology!

SERENITY NOW!!

edit: I figured as much with regards to looking at an assload of slides. I'm just tired of saying hey this has ____ chromatin and then someone else says no, you're wrong bitch it has ____ chromatin.

F- you:
fine
coarse
finely granular
coarsely granular
coarsely fine
vesicular
vesicular with slightly fine granules of salt and peppa
marginated (this one makes sense?)
clock-faced (f-off plasma cell!)
neuroendocrine (salt n peppa --wtf are you at my dinner table or are you an 80s-90s now defunct female rap trio ?!?!)
my favorite though blastic....yeah i like that one. That way no one knows what the f*ck youre talkin about.

I thought there were only two types of chromatin: heterochromatin and euchromatin. 🙂

Just wait till you get to cytology and people are talking about "irregular" nuclear outlines and notched clumped spiky pointy shrivelled nuclei.

And water-clear metaplastic dense frothy bubbly cytoplasm. Phooey.

You mean, "raisinoid?" Ha.

And Intermediate to high grade.

I just saw an outside path report that described "moderate to moderate-well" diff carcinoma.

I didn't realize carcinoma was like ny strip steaks now...

It's a hedge...you know, like the Radiologists' favorite foliage.😀

I think I'd revise it to be "borderline moderate to moderately/well differentiated" Ca.

One of our eminent surgical pathologists was at consensus conference, when someone showed a transbronch biopsy done because the radiologist had said, "interstitial infiltrates, these findings could represent infection, neoplasia, or connective tissue disease" or something to that effect. He said, "And they get paid for this!"

Cytology is like that too though, what do clinicians do with "Atypical cells present" anyway? They can't do much. It's not cancer, but it's not negative either.
