Cincinnati
Pros
  • Very affordable
  • Family Support
  • Very high Step 2 score (253)
  • Very new research facilities
  • Very real and relatable people
Cons
  • Less prestigious
  • Affiliate hospitals are not specialty hospitals

Pittsburgh
Pros
  • Friends in the area
  • Greater opportunities for research
  • Better reputation
  • Specialty focused hospitals (Magee Women's, Western Psych) note
  • Assuming high Step 2 score, not reported on University official website like Cincinnati's
Cons
  • A solid 200K+ more expensive
  • Many students I have met have a very "uppidy" attitude
Summary: It comes down to prestige versus money taken out in loans

Don’t spend 200k+ more for Pitt. Some may say it’s prestigious but

a) Cincinnati isn’t some new school like Nova MD or in a small area with fewer clinical training opportunities. It’s probably ranked #30 or 35 and those are subjective anyways.

b) Going to Pitt isn’t like a golden ticket vs other schools. I don’t think people understand that it likely isn’t going to make up the extra money you spent (plus interest) on loans.

Having supportive family close by is probably one of the biggest factors in student success.

Here are the step scores I wouldn't weigh step 2 scores heavily because back in the day, people who scored high on step 1 would wait until after they submitted their app to take step 2 so it wouldn't be added. This could skew the step 2 scores.

But agreed with what everyone here says. Seems like the only thing going for you is Pitt's prestige. Unless you want to get into one of super competitive specialties that Pitt excels in like ortho, I would go with Cincy.

Thanks for the recourse. I am unsure about its accuracy though just because the score for Cincy on here is 4 points lower than the score reported on their official website.

US News might lag a year. The data is from US News, which to my understanding is reported by the university in order to be in their ranking.
