Older threads have addressed this, but I haven't seen any on the circumstances for redoing pre-req's in light of a positive trend.

Freshman year: 2 C's, 1 C+
Summer between sophomore and junior year: 1 C (just a f*ing hard class)

2 of the C's in biology pre-req's, 1 in chem I lab, C+ in calc II my first quarter of college. Needless to say, I've improved significantly since that slow start. Currently my overall is a 3.5/3.3, with a heavy positive trend (3.9 last spring, 4.0 this summer, etc.). Assuming I continue this trend, I'm looking at a 3.55-3.6 cum/3.5 bcpm by the time I apply at the end of my senior year.

A lot of B's/B+s in my pre-req's, mostly A's in my upper div bio (neuro) and I've also taken a few quarters of upper-div stats (A's) and a grad level orgo class (A). Should I retake the bad pre-req grades during my gap year or continue to take and do well in upper div work during that year? I'm going into my senior year now and am trying to figure out the gap year situation now so I can make plans for where to keep taking classes (based on what I need to take).

Oh also, I know about D.O. grade replacement, but I'mpretty set on MD (nothing against DO's, it's just I don't want to take the spot of someone who really wants a DO).

From what I have gathered, adcoms are not at all impressed with a better grade in a retake, especially i you already passed the course to begin with. They expect a better grade, since this would be the second tine you are taking it. I personally don't think its worth retaking courses you previously passed. Obviously, if you received below a C in the pre-reqs, than you need to retake them.
