I will be starting dental school in a couple of days at NYU and have selected the CitiAssist Health Profession Loan to help me pay for school. This is the first time I have ever taken out a loan and kinda noobish at it. I have applied for the loan via the Citibank website www.studentloan.com and filled out the information and e-signed the application along with my co-signer... Now, after a couple of days in my "Application in Progress" page I have a new loan listed saying "A school certification has been received, we are awaiting completion of an MPN to continue processing. You may be able to complete your MPN online." for a different amount than what i requested...

can anyone help me in what this means...do i cancel the old loan application and complete the new one...i really dont want to screw this up...

so confused....

btw - i have attached a screen shot...of the website...

the MPN is a note that you have to sign back to them so they know how much you want to take out for a loan. this is just another step on the loan process.
you may want to post this thread at the dental section instead of pre-dent, so other dental students may be able to give more suggestions.

The MPN is a master promissory note. It's just something your have to sign that outlines the terms and amount of the loan and that you accept it. No big deal. Just sign it and turn it in.

Tell us about the loan interest rate. I looked at this several months ago and it was quite high. I took the Health professions loan from the school which was much better.

BE CAREFUL !

by the way, your clip of the website was not helpful in the least. I cant read it.

Do you know the specifics of how eligibility for the Health professions loan sponsored by the Dept. of Health and Human Services is determined? All I know is that it is for "financially needy" students.
