Citizens/ Perm Resident preference?

Is there an actual preference for citizens or permanent residents? I know that there are a few colleges that only accept them. Those that have gotten accepted pls give insight to this

how being a citizen or permanent resident affect on getting a job ( before the admission to the school) like dental assistant jobs ?

To work anywhere in US an international student would need a working permit/visa. I believe you need that to be a dental assistant too. An F1 visa won't allow you to do that.

You can not be a dental assistant but you can shadow a dentist or just work for free to gain experience.
