I eventually failed CK 181/70, I think. Please, do I fill a new ECFMG Form 186 to register for the exam? I have CS in June. Please, I would greatly appreciate advice as to how to prepare for CK again. I went through Kaplan notes twice and through First Aid and First Aid Cases, didn't do questions really, only a few subject cases in First Aid. Please help.

What do you mean you 'think' you failed? The report spells it out. Anyways, I think your biggest mistake is not doing enough questions. Most my classmates focused on questions, with minimal book studying. This exam is as much about clinical judgement as it is about knowing the facts. You need to buy a qbank, I suggest usmle world, and do every question, read every explanation.

I remember seeing your post several weeks ago, about how u prepped and that u didn't get to do any qbank. It was depressing watching a car crash in slow motion.
There are many ppl who ONLY do Uworld and significantly beat the national average, regardless of how much they knew before starting Uworld.

I also know more than one person, very intelligent guys, who knew Kaplan in and out cold and had very solid clinical knowledge. Spent less time on Q's and more time mastering K course material. These guys scored in the 80's - left me shocked.

Bottom line - practice with q's.

I'm hoping to apply for the 2012 match and have CS at the end of june. I will be starting an externship for 8 weeks through June and July -4 weeks IM first then 4 weeks Neuro.How long do you guys think I need to prepare for CK?

I thought I made my point in the previous post but apparently not, so let me spell it out. Go to the nearest fireplace, start a fire, and throw all your review books in it. Then say thanks to God that you did not score a 75 and still have a chance to redeem yourself by getting a better score.

Start Uworld.

US board exams are not trying to test ur memory and recall of every line of text. There are certain concepts that you need to have learned to be a competent physician. You have done the comprehensive review, now just learn those concepts.

And do not start annotating Uworld into some review book to make some "Master" study guide. Just read the explanation, and why the other choices are wrong and understand the material. Do it 2-3 times. At the very most, you can read one of the Brochert books (Crush or Secrets) along with Uworld to help u learn those high yield concepts.

Thank you, Rainmaker78. You have been extremely helpful. I have registered with UW. I don't have Crush or Secrets only FA and Kaplan. UW starts today. How long do you think UW will take me? Sorry about all the questions. It's just that I have CS on 28th June and haven't started my prep for it. So I want to plan properly. Thanks again, everyone especially Rainmaker78

actually, until very very recently, more than 50% of students applying into the match have never heard of UWorld. Considering half are IMG's. and UW was not that popular even with US until recently overtaking kaplan, it had like a B grade whiel Qbank had an A grade in recent First Aids

Kaplan has much better marketing as well, and domination. even today. so this case does not suprise me at all.

It;s like few years ago, when EVERYBODY you knew had AIM messenger. like everybody, all the way from the bottom of texas to the very very top of michigan. But all you had to do was walk across the border to canada, like 20 mins. and they've NEVER heard of AIM messenger in their lives. cus MSN had entirely worldwide domination except for tiny little blip on globe we call the usa
