When is the absolute latest that a senior US student can take step 2 CK ?? It isn't required prior to rank list submission or match day, right??

We just need to take it prior to starting residency, right?

thanks..

all I can say is that at some programs in some specialties, NOT having a CK score prior to the match is a significant disadvantage, particularly if you had a marginal Step 1 score, and even worse if you are at a school that will not let you graduate without CK. The actual score is not as important as the fact that you passed. Bear in mind that in order for this info to be used in the rank list, it must be available to the program when the rank list is made. That means February, for a lot of programs.

Given that the OP is asking this question in Feb, the OP doesn't care about it being considered in the decision (as there is no way to take and pass it before 2/25 at this point). Most residencies are fine with just a Step 1 from US med student applicants. Those that aren't need to see the score well before February because most places have their rank lists at least preliminarily done at this point.
The answer to the OP's question, I believe, is that you have to have passed it by the time residency starts.
