My situation is such that I will only be free to sit for the CK right before I begin my peds rotation.

I was hoping to break 240 on the CK since my Step 1 was 239, and I am planning on self-reading pediatrics with Blueprints. Since shelf studying won't necessarily be a concern, I'm thinking that the UW and Kaplan questions should suffice for furthering my peds knowledge for CK.

I would have done FM, IM, Surgery, Psych, OB/Gyn, Anesthesia and EM before I begin my Step II CK prep and was planning on reading Blueprints Peds during EM.

Have anyone of you gone through a similar situation?

The exam can vary in content. The peds questions were kind of lame.

I would recommend doing UWorld and reading the Kaplan Step 2CK Pediatrics notes.

You should abort your plan if you do not do well on the UWorld peds section.

Just be aware that you could be taking a significant risk because your exam could be peds-heavy. I thought the Kaplan notes while dense covered the material rather well.

Indeed. My CK was very well-represented by all of the specialties. But more so with OBGYN and pediatrics. I imagined the test to be majority IM, since IM is so large, but many have found this to be misleading.

Agreed. My peds shelf score was my lowest, but I did the best on this portion on the CK. It showed on my report. This has nothing to do with correlation; because my peds shelf was so low, I studied extra hard for that on CK. If you don't do well on UW peds, then think about rescheduling your CK.
