Was a biochem major. Definitely interesting to learn about the mechanics of biochem testing and gives me an extra dimension of interpretation of medical literature because I know how the tests are done. Personally don't really like running the tests though. For me there was a lot of accidentally stabbing through acrylamide gel, wondering if my gels actually had a current running through them, hoping I had remembered to blank out my spectrophotometer. I liked analytical chemistry better. Titrations are easy and even meditative, somehow.
