Have been a long time reader, just wanted to give a shout out to all those that are starting pod school here soon. I start next week!!!

What school are you attending? I'm starting at NYCPM on August 27. Very excited!

I will be attending scholl. Lucky you I wish break was just a bit longer, but orientation starts the 13th. Enjoy the last part of your break!

Wow our first day of class is tomorrow.

See you at Scholl soon then Rayovac; I am also part of the class of 2018!

Yeah I think NYCPM is an outlier by starting that late. Hey I'm not complaining lol.

Good luck! Temple starts on Aug 25, so I still have time to chill.

Edit : So I THOUGHT today marked the day where the class of 2018 students from all 9 schools are officially in Podiatric Medical School. I was wrong, apparently NYCPM doesn't start until Wednesday... either way, congratulations to everyone and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Let's try to keep in touch with each other by sharing general experiences, likes, dislikes, and even some motivation! For instance, I'm at DMU and we actually started two weeks ago and we had our first biochem exam last Friday. Oofda! Getting that first med school exam out of the way feels like a huge weight off my shoulders...until I realized there's more to come and they're only going to get worst. :wideyed:

So how is everyone else doing? How's the workload so far?

Started 2nd week of school at Scholl. Our exams are broken up so we don't have block exams like the med school, but it results in back to back exams every week. First biochemistry test will be next week. Workload will be worse as the year progresses. We are starting anatomy lab this week.

At AZ we have a test every Monday of every week so its been a very intense 4 weeks so far. Anatomy test coming up after labor day which is starting to look pretty scary.

Good luck with your exam this week!
We just started our anatomy lab last week too, but our first anatomy lecture exam is next Tuesday. We also have a clinical medicine exam on Friday. It really picks up from there.

That is crazy! How many classes are you taking right now?

I hear ya about that anatomy. I took anatomy when I was in undergrad and I did just fine, but for some reason, I feel like I'm drowning here. I think is overall organization of the body systems that we're doing? Not really sure. Just curious, what body system did everyone start at? We jumped into the neck, which was a shock to me. And does anyone have any study strategies/tools you might want to share?

Scholl here. We pretty much have terms and definitions, nervous system, and back for our anatomy test next Monday... For me, it's more difficult since we don't have a lab with fake bones going along with lecture since it's easy to identify and memorize. Here, we have cadavers and it takes awhile to get to the parts that we are tested on since we don't want to rush and ruin what we will be tested on later in lab. Best of luck to your studies, fellow pod!

We take 4 classes this first quarter, histo, anatomy w/ lab, biochem, and podmed. We just finished up the back which was the first body system we did in anatomy. Now we are going into thorax, but for studying I suggest making sure you go to any open lab time there is to make sure you know what everything looks like and the relationships between everything.
