Thought I would create a post to lighten the mood. Similar to being stranded on an island, once you matriculate this fall what is 1 item you must bring with you? Be original!

For me… my zojirushi rice cooker (technically my parents, but they can buy a new one! Haha). Instant pot is nice, but nothing beats the memories of trying to make rice with too much or too little H2O and getting scolded by mama Philz. Plus, I never feel satiated unless I've had rice for one of my meals.

Also, anyone can chime in… not exclusive to just class of 2022.

My first thought was lavender-scented epsom salt or bath bombs, but since the bath idea is already taken, I'll go with my various posters and canvas paintings of places I've always wanted to visit to a) remind me of the beauty in the world outside of med school when the workload begins to feel suffocating and b) remind me of the awesome life I'll have once I'm a doctor and can afford to go on trips!

Or I guess just one of them since you said one item haha

A lot of canvases come in sets of 3, right? 😉

Zojirushi rice cookers are bomb. I love how mine plays Mary Had a Little Lamb when the rice is done.

Crock pot and pressure cooker are also essential.

I'm going to say I'd bring my whole damn kitchen! That's one thing.... right? :-/

Either my vacuum cooker or my slow cooker. They've both changed the way I eat so much. I love being able to leave whatever I want in the morning and come back at night and have a nice meal. Saves so much time in front of the stove.

Edit: I'm waiting for someone to say "My already fully annotated copy of First Aid"

I was going to say Keurig for the caffeine needs, but...

After a recent session I would have to say my theracane (Thera Cane) -- bear with me here, but using this puppy on your shoulder and upper back muscles after a day of hunching over studying is a spiritual experience

I saw your username and picture first and I thought for sure that you were going to say crunchy peanut butter. Im slightly disappointed lol 😛
Given that - I guess you will be tacking a ginger cat with you?

My advice: bring something that reminds you of the outside world. Don't neglect medical school, but don't let it consume you. For me that was workout clothes. I made sure I worked out at least 3x a week in the gym. No stress over medical school, tests, rotations, etc.

I dont think my ginger cat would let me leave without him! haha

Edit: if you're wondering, I will be bringing my sense of impending doom as well
That sounds like a classic cat response; important never to forget the sense of impending doom for sure!
