Okay, so I decided to get this thread started a little early.
How many of you newborns are hoping to be in the class of 2039? You will be facing stiff competition from all the other gunners from the first day out of the womb! (Of course, some say preschool is when things really start to get serious, but I say get started one step ahead.) Learn to walk and talk early. You want every advantage you can get.
Now is the time to be preparing for the MCAT (I hear they're adding Basket Weaving, Ancient Phonetician History, and Metallurgy by 2032), after all, you don't want to be caught unprepared!
Now is also the time to get your volunteering and shadowing underway. See if you can join your mom when she goes to help in the town soup kitchens. Try to find a good local doctor who will let you shadow on weekends from now until the time you apply (but not an OBGYN: you don't want to be too mainstream). Nothing says dedication like 32,348 volunteering hours and 15,986 shadowing hours by the time you are 22.
Anyone else have some suggestions for these future applicants?
