I have a couple remediated classes on my transcript, which even put me on probation. I have been since then trying very hard to do well in my classes. They way class rank is calculated at my school is by overall numerical percentage in all of the courses you've taken. Basically, it isn't necessarily correlated with your GPA as you can absolutely destroy a class with a 99% or get higher grades than others but still get the same letter grade. Suppose I bring my class rank to top 25%. Will PD's still hold it against me that I still had blemishes on my transcript even though I compensated for it?
Obviously, for residency, there are other big factors like Step 1 but as far as the First 2 (pre-clinical) years of grades / rank / transcript are concerned, would class rank be something they look at more or is it GPA or grades? I'm assuming all three are reported on ERAS.
