What classes in college do you think helped you the most in medical school?

What classes in medical school do you think helped you prepare best for the USMLE?

Well, the USMLE step 1 tests a few subjects more heavily than others, so those would be the most helpful to me. They include Path, pharm, physio and perhaps micro/immuno.

As for what undergrad classes are helpful... any upper level class that corresponds to a med school course could be helpful, though I think a solid foundation in science and logical thinking is even more helpful. I'd say there are many history and english classes that I took that help me more than many of my science classes.

I found my undergrad physiology class was hands down the best class I had that helped me in med school. Biochemistry or molecular bio is also very helpful.

USMLE: Path/Pharm/Physio

Best undergrad course: I second the helpfullness of my undergrad Physio. When time was short I could fall back on concepts I previously learned. I didn't have biochem or anatomy in undergrad; had no problem with these courses. In the meantime enjoy college, this is the best advice I can give you. Really, undergrad is neither the time nor place to start loging in those board prep hours. Come to medical school with a fresh mind and alot of experiences is the best advice I can give you.
