What classes do you take once you're finally in optometry school?

I'm debating on whether I should take Anatomy, Physiology and Biochem.

I know there was a topic that briefly touched this matter but I wanted a direct answer.

Should I take those classes? Will they come in handy or am i just wasting my time?

Also, can anyone list the curriculum of the classes you usually take?

took me 5 seconds to find. really now? can't you do your own research?

I've taken the biochem sequence at my school, and I have found it very useful in understanding all of my other chemistry and bio courses...It kind of bring everything together (if its taught by the right prof)...I think anyone premed, preopt, or in a health related field should have that kind of background. I'd say if you haven't taken an anatomy class and have room in your schedule, go ahead. You will most definitely have to take it again in optometry school, and it will help to have learned it once before. Good luck!

My first semester of classes:

  • Optics 1 (physics)
  • Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology
  • Optometry 1: Primary Optometric Procedures
  • Human Physiology and Molecular Biology
  • Advanced Human Anatomy and Histology
  • Vision Science 1 (everything else)
I'm not sure how useful biochemistry will be after this term, though I did take it in undergrad.
