Hello everyone

Had a quick question regarding required/"highly recommended" classes at time of application vs taking them after application. Biochem is a class that is heavily "recommended" by many medical schools. is it okay to not have this class at time of application and take it after submitting (during my senior year)? Or am I at a disadvantage because it is not on my application?

Please let me know.

thanks!

In general, the required/recommended classes need to be completed by matriculation.

There may be exceptions, so check the individual websites of the schools in question. I seem to remember one school I applied to wanted your pre-reqs done before your last semester of undergrad (before January of senior year).

Correct that schools won't be seeing grades following spring of the application year until we get accepted and submit final transcripts? In my case I haven't touched Calc or Biochem and was wondering what the application forms ask for for senior year classes? Do you list your intended schedule? Would it work to take Calc and Biochem at a local CC over the summer (and not have adcoms really be aware/care till I submit final transcripts if I get in?) just to knock them out so I can enjoy my senior year a bit more?

I think Duke requires biochem at time of application. That's the only weird one I can think of off of the top of my head.
