Hi guys. I'm facing a dilemma. I am applying to pharm school this July/August but I was wondering if I could take some required pre-reqs the summer before pharm school (if I get accepted). I'm not taking a year off from undergrad.. so I'm going straight from undergrad to pharm school, hopefully.

Is it possible to take required classes that summer? I couldn't take it this summer because the classes are sooo impacted and I have no time to take in during the fall because they're only offered at community colleges and I'd have to shuttle between the cc and the university. The classes are anatomy/anatomy lab and public speaking, if you're wondering.

Will pharm schools still accept classes taken the summer just before entering their program?? Thanks for the help!

To be honest, you'll have to research your school's individually because their answers can differ significantly. (Consequently, it can impact your plan to take courses as well).

For example, see the following link for the University of Washington's policy: http://sop.washington.edu/school-of-pharmacy/pharmd-admissions/faq-prerequisites.html

They explicitly state that "ALL prerequisite coursework must be completed by the end of Spring term before matriculation into the Pharm.D. program."

Check your schools and be sure that you can take some classes next summer!

Oh thanks!! I just looked a few of my preferred schools up real quick and it says ALL course prerequisites by the end of the: Summer 2013 term, which means i CAN take classes that summer, right?

It seems so. If you're still feeling unsure, give your schools a call to verify a date that they want the class done by. (Some schools have two summer sessions as far as I know).
