Anyone listen to classical music to ease off the stress of pharm school? Or listen while studying?

If yes, what? What would you recommend? I'm currently listening to Beethoven and Yanni- In My Time.
 
I'm a Vivaldi fan myself. Gershwin's Piano Rolls are also good to listen to when studying.
 
pandora.com set to a classical artist so it just plays in the background and i don't have to actively search for anything

lol, i think you mean work.

i just set it and forget it...the moment i start thinking about what artist i want to listen to, i fall into "oh let me dig through my classical collection."
 
I agree that Bach is excellent to listen to while studying, the music keeps moving but in a relaxing way.
 
I like orchestral music...especially strings. Nothing really older than 50 years old though. More instruments are available nowadays...the typical Euro stuff composed 2+ centuries ago was too restricted...no electricity...no Eastern/middle eastern instruments, etc...the possibilities today are greater. I'd take modern orchestral stuff like E.S. Posthumus or the Kronos Quartet over any of those long-deceased European dudes any day of the week.

lol...I'd be thrilled to drop a few days on some Gator games. No such luck though.

I realized we were nearing the end of the year and I had barely used up any of my 4 weeks...trip to SoCal and SoFla was a nice change of pace.

Hey, are you still going to that resort in PA (or did you already go)? Think I'm heading there in a few weeks for a bachelorette party!
 
I listened to Pachebel... Sometimes while studying, but mostly it helped me de-stress before the big exams. I would listen to it on my Ipod right up until the minute the professor was handing out the exams. 🙂

Yeah, the Hummers were a blast! Drop by Mo'Town, it's only like 45 minutes away.

Vitamin String Quartet does covers of pop bands like Coldplay, the Section Quartet does covers of Queens of the Stone Age and Muse that are fun sometimes (classical+rock); I saw Kronos Quartet do their cover of Purple Haze in college, it was amazing.

I'm also a Pandora fan. My Organic Chemistry professor was the one who introduced it to us in class.

I still don't know what kind of music I like. However, Smetana's "The Moldau" ranks among my favorite pieces of music. Also up there is the New York Philharmonic's rendition of the Korean folksong, "Arirang." Look it up on YouTube. It's wonderful.

Mozart...it actually helps me play better golf if I listen to it.

Phantom of the Opera Music.. used to help me ace tests in RX school..

Speaking of Pachelbel, for all you who've ever had the misfortune of playing this piece -every single year- from middle school through high school, here's a hilarious rant about this famous piece of music. 😀

And about listening to classical music? You guys pretty much got all the biggies covered. I'd like to throw in some Rach piano concertos into the mix too. They're great to lose yourself in them and forget about the schoolwork for a few minutes, and just relax/destress.

Oh, and if your'e open to movie soundtracks, try the Mononoke Hime OST (Japanese animated film "Princess Mononoke"), the music is gorgeous. 🙂
