Cliffs AP Bio

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Like all the sciences or just bio? I like Cliffs better than KBB for bio, and it was a pretty quick read- plus it has lots of practice questions...but of course if you need to review all the sciences KBB is pretty good.

use cliffs, but your gonna need another resource for physio

Agreed. I took physiology in the spring and there is no comparing what I learned in that class compared to what you see in Cliffs, but then again the DAT questions aren't that in-depth so maybe you can get by with what they give you. I will say that they do skip a few systems though.

Dentrilla,
What are good resources for physio ?_?.

I would go with cliffs too for bio.

Hey,

I know this is kinda sad but wiki has really good physio breakdowns of each system. I know wiki is a shady resource because anyone can change it but I'm pretty sure topics as huge as the systems of the body are accurate. I feel that wiki is pretty sufficient, as well as just googling specific questions. Other then that, I've heard Campbells text is great but I don't feel like I have the time for it.

A lot of your first year bio texts should have some human physio. ( I feel like cliffs does a OK job with covering other species physio's, so does wiki tho)

Keep in mind, I havn't written the DAT yet! Anyone that has please give us some input 🙂

I think Cliffs is fine with physiology...the DAT doesnt test the depth your college physiology class was at, only intro bio level.

Cliffs is weak in DNA technology, and experimental embryology

If you look at the ADA guide they have a list of all the systems we are required to know.
III. Vertebrate Anatomy and Physiology:
Structure and Function of Systems (9)
A. Integumentary
B. Skeletal
C. Muscular
D. Circulatory
E. Immunological
F. Digestive
G. Respiratory
H. Urinary
I. Nervous/senses
J. Endocrine
K. Reproductive

Cliff's has a 10pg chapter that covers these and alot of the topics are not even there.

Pretty sure Cliff's is insufficient for physio

Cliffs.

Study taxonomy and plants/ brush through DNA stuff/ read ecology.

Thats what I did.
