Clinic in COVID era

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Students in space suits, I personally would prefer bubble boys outfit lol

My school just announced today that students will not be doing their own lab work from now on.

A couple of reasons: (1) The school wants us to focus on dentistry, 2. There's not enough space or time for us in lab due to COVID.

Also, digital impressions will be the default method.

Could you DM me the school? Our student government is trying to negotiate things, and it’s helpful to know what others are doing. What was the states reason for this change?

What did your school do before for lab work? Did they send out cases to the lab?

We did send out cases to the lab, but the students had to do a lot of the typical dental school lab work (e.g. setting teeth and festooning for dentures, die trimming and ditching for crowns, etc.). I'm a rising D3 so I don't really know the details of how it used to be, but I know it used to take up a lot of time for D3s and D4s.

From what I hear we don't do much lab work after we graduate so it makes sense that they're having us focus on things we will actually be doing as dentists.

I really appreciate how flexible my school has been with all of this.
