Has anybody had the experience of being asked clinical questions, or having to discuss an approach to a difficult case during an interview?

I have my first interview in a little over a week, and am trying to decide if I should spend more prep time on reading about the program, or brushing up on my anesthesia basics. Thanks in advance!

My PD told me that he frequently asks the interviewee to tell him about an anesthesia case and what they learned from it. He said it doesn't have to be complex, as long as it shows commitment and learning from your cases.

When I was a medical student interviewing, I got asked about:

- the hemoglobin-O2 dissociation curve including the three things that shift it to the right (very unusual interview, I know for a fact this person does not interview anymore)

- what is rapid sequence induction/intubation

- diabetes end-organ effects

on my ENT interviews I was asked to work up a neck mass and fold a bunch of origami. I can't remember any clinical stuff on my anesthesiology interviews. Maybe they asked about and interesting case or something, but there was nothing specific or detailed.
