Hello, my school has a job opening as follows and I was wondering if anybody tried this route to gain clinical experience:

Job Title:
Sports Medicine Staff: Student Paraprofessional (Student First Responder)

Employment Dates:
Fall/Spring School Semester

Description:
All students are encouraged to apply. Student Paraprofessionals will assist the Certified Athletic Trainers in the preparation and coverage of all (my school name) athletics team practices and competitions. Some duties may include but are not limited to: activating the EMS based upon our emergency action plan (EAP) and any other tasks under the supervision or direction of the Certified Athletic Trainer or Sports Medicine Staff.

Student Paraprofessionals are expected to be made available for the entire length of athletic events. This includes pre-game preparations and post-game clean up and treatments.

Qualifications:
Must be current with first aid, CPR, and AED certifications.

Hey! I'm glad to see your post. This is the route I'm going/have gone. I volunteered last year with the Sports Medicine program at a local college. I worked in the training room assisting the trainers with ice/tape but more related on sports rehab, often including post-surgeries.

Anyway, I've finished the secondaries for 10 schools and have yet to hear back. That's not great news, but I'm glad to see someone in the same boat (maybe).

I'll up date if/when I hear...
