Hello! I'm really interesting into going into an MD/PhD program and was wondering what a good amount of clinical hours and shadowing hours are needed to be competitive for MSTPs? Additionally, does hospital volunteering count towards clinical hours?

In general, all you need for MD/PhD is about 50-100 hrs of clinical experiences. Enough to convince a committee that you want to be more than just a PhD researcher.
Would working as a hospital volunteer count? The position I'm applying for involves rounding on patients and general duties. Also, would shadowing count as a clinical experience or is its own separate category away from clinical hours?
