I am curious whether a job as an EVS technician would count as clinical hours or not.
This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards. Not much patient exposure.Hi. It depends on what you are doing. What are your main responsibilities as an EVS technician?
Thank you, I will see if I can find something else.I would say probably not because the actual patient interaction is minimal, and I also don't think it will give you the kind of insight into a career in healthcare that more typical clinical experiences like scribing, MA, EMT, CNA, etc. would give you. But honestly you could probably get away with listing it as clinical.
Based on this, I would suggest a more patient centered role for your clinical hours. Beyond needing the patient interaction for your application, your experience will help you create your narrative for "why medicine." Good luck! This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards.
