Is research required to land a path residency? I only have a small clinical research project (behavioral oncology) that I did in between MS1 and MS2... publication pending (2nd author). Or put another way: will not having a basic science research hurt me? I have basic science research from undergrad though that I enjoyed. Thanks for the advice!

I think you are fine in general, but find out what research your desired programs conduct. Also, if all the rest of your application is above average, then you should be in good shape.

I had no research - all I had done was a case report and that was only submitted to journals. And I got interviews everywhere I applied and was a competitive candidate. Research is but a part of the application.
