So, after looking on here, I still can't quite find the answer to this question.

how the heck does one get involved in clinical research? Lab research is easy, go stalk some PI's online and contact the ones that you want to work with, but what exactly do you do for clinical?

Try looking at the employment sections of any local hospitals' websites. Now not all hospitals have clinical research, but if there are any that are teaching ones there is a good shot.

For me, I chose the route where I volunteered my time in a clinic--> they always need volunteer. That way I get to see how a clinic operates (very different from a hospital) and I get to observe the physicians and their research. After a month of volunteering (they decided I wasn't some kind of psycho), I was allowed to assist in their clinical research. Again, this I'll just put clinical research on my EC as volunteer-medically related.

Used this trojan horse technique. Hey it worked before in Troy, why not now?

Hey! I got my start in clinical research doing a summer internship with the NIH (Cancer Research Training Award-or CRTA). Look into it! It's amazing there.

Check with your pre-med/pre-health adviser. At my school, there is a pre-health list-serv and if signed up, we receive e-mails with all sorts of information and opportunities in the health science field including job openings in research and clinical research.

I obtained my past clinical research job through someone I knew in my honor society, so perhaps ask people you know.

I did the exact same thing, except stalked the PI's who conducted clinical research off of the medical school website. 👍

I was going to say exactly that. Of course, it helps to have a health care background or a background in statistics to get your foot in the door.
