Had another case this week while on call. Took 1/2 bottle of 0.1mg tabs.
Interesting drug, clonidine is....centrally acting with vasoconstrictive properties can actually cause life-threatening HYPERtension initially, followed by hypotension after alpha2-adrenergic stimulation is achieved. Of course, we know about the common rebound effect.
Anyone seen naloxone used in the treatment of this?
Ironically, it was the clonidine that was used for psychiatric purposes, and the lamotrigine was used for anti-seizure control, which was also taken in overdose.
