Some questions that I'm curious about:
1) Anyone have a list of international schools that are already CODA-accredited or are in the process of getting CODA accreditation (besides schools in Canada and Puerto Rico)?
According the California Dental Association website, cda.org: "Documents were developed and provided to the 12 programs that expressed a continuing interest in CODAs consultation and accreditation services. The 12 programs are located in the following countries: Australia, Columbia, India, Korea, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden and Turkey."
2) Will accreditation mean that foreign-trained dentists will no longer have to go through 2+ years of schooling/training in the U.S. to be licensed to practice here?
3) Any guesses on how this will affect the dental profession in the U.S., i.e., over-saturation in some markets , U.S. applicants applying abroad, bringing down dental healthcare costs (and thus salaries), etc.
4) Will this entail reciprocal agreements? For example, ABC Dental School in Korea will get CODA accreditation as long as U.S. dental schools are equally accredited in Korea.
Any other thoughts welcome.
